Honolulu’s Mayor Endorses $2.76 Billion Budget

With unflagging duty Honolulu’s mayor has penned Fiscal Year 2009 Budget into law.  It focuses on essential city assistance. This includes public safety, sewers and solid waste, parks, public facilities and transportation. There is a special focus on sewer upgrades, garbage hauling, expanding of the city’s curbside recycling program and major road repairs.

 Breakdown is as follows beginning July 1st:

  • $4 billion towards Rail System
  • Police patrol for beach parks
  • $245.3 million towards sewer upgrades and garbage pick-up
  • $8 million towards expansion of curbside recycling program
  • $77 million towards major road repairs
  • $265 million for 20 mile elevated rail system that will conncect Kapolei to Ala Moana
  • $100 Tax credit for Homeowners
