Hawaiian School Principals accept Annual Island Insurance Foundation Leadership Awards
The big, big winner this year is Dole Middle School’s principal Myron Monte. He has received
the coveted Island Insurance Foundation’s Fifth Annual Masayuki Tokioka "Excellence in
School" Leadership Award. Principal Monte will take back to school $10,000 in cash
as well as $15,000 towards a school project of his choice.
There were other big winners. The top two semi-finalists each won $2,000. They were
Principal Meredith Maeda of Castle High School and Caroline Wong of Moanalua
Middle School.
In addition to the above, $1,000 dollars each went to the following nominees:
John Brummel of Mililani High School
Michael Harano of Washington Middle School
Gregg Lee of Stevenson Middle School
Amy Martinson of Highlands Intermediate School
Wilfred Murakami of Kealakehe High School
Annette Nishikawa of Kapolei Middle School
Linda Puleloa of Molokai High School
Gilmore Youn of Kapaa High School
Several lucky teachers at Waikoloa Elementary School were given gifts that included
a digital camera, a laser printer/scanner, a book set, tempra paints, camera batteries,
and a karaoke machine by Brookfield Homes Hawaii as part of it’s Holomua Education
program.
