$5 Million Donated to University of Hawaii
You give, and you shall receive… at least it’s the case for the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation.
The Clarence T.C. Foundation recently donated $5 million dollars to the University of Hawaii’s new athletic complex, which in turn, will be newly named after the foundation itself. The foundation was created in honor of the late Clarence T.C. Ching, developer of the Kukui Gardens affordable-rental project and a lifelong UH athletics supporter. The $5 million donation was the largest donation in history provided by the foundation as well as the largest UH has received specifically for its athletics program.
During a UH Board of Regents monthly meeting in Kapolei, the board agreed to name the complex after Clarence T.C. Ching and also agreed to lower ticket prices for UH events- a measure that will allow larger and more frequent bonuses for coaches and athletes who qualify for post season competition.
The complex will cost $9.7 million and will replace Cooke Field. Thanks to the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, it is scheduled for completion in two to three years.
