Hoku Scientific to Sell its Kapolei Real Estate

But company insists its headquarters will remain in Hawaii

The Hawaii company Hoku Scientific is scrapping plans for its factory on Kapolei real estate for a factory to manufacture solar modules. The company, which is at the forefront of a push for renewable energy on Hawaii real estate, has decided to buy the modules rather than produce them. The factory Hoku Scientific is planning to produce polysilicon will actually be located in Idaho. The company, however, insists that it will remain a Hawaiian company, according to Pacific Business News:

"Our intention is not to move our headquarters from Hawaii," Darryl
Nakamoto said Friday morning on KHON. "We will continue to have a
presence in Hawaii."
