Kapolei Real Estate Expanding to Include “Second City”
New Kapolei community center to be built near schools
One of the key components of the Kapolei "second city" is to the Kroc Center, a Kapolei community center operated by the Salvation Army. The Honolulu Advertiser reports on the expected construction of this new addition to Kapolei real estate:
The
Salvation Army’s Kroc Center, considered by regional leaders a key
component in the maturation of the "second city" of Kapolei, is
expected to break ground next summer and hold its grand opening in
spring 2010, said Maj. Phil Lum, project director for the community
facility.
This new Kapolei community center is located near schools, and is expected to be a meeting place for residents from ‘Aiea to the Wai’anae Coast. The cost of building the Kapolei community center is expected to be $40 million, and another $40 million will go toward operation.
